New web-based attendance reporting

In January 2009 the College will use a web-based attendance reporting system for traditional (face-to-face) classes. For now, the College will continue to use paper reporting for all other delivery codes (Internet, hybrid, telecourse, etc.). In addition, CCE will continue to use paper reporting.

Advantages for instructors teaching traditional classes:

Professional Development will offer a number of training sessions so that full-time and part-time faculty and instructional office assistants will understand the features of this new system. In addition, an online tutorial will be available the week of December 1.

A schedule of one-hour sessions for all campus locations is listed below. Register in LearnerWeb today!

If you have any questions contact Scarlett Hollingsworth or Libby Vagnoni.

Catawba River Film Festival Dec. 4

The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, in partnership with CPCC’s Center for Sustainability, presents the Catawba River Film Festival on December 4, 2008.

  • Thursday, December 4, at  6:30 p.m in Pease Auditorium four films will be presented, with panel discussion afterwards.
  • Tickets: $5

The film festival will show four short films that discuss issues such as the world water crisis, ocean conservation, kayaking and recreation, and conservation at the local level.

Water First is a global water film that uses Malawi’s clean water struggles to discuss the UN Millennium Development Goals and the pivotal need for clean water around the globe.

Once Upon a Tide reconnects its audience to the importance of the marine environment for all life on earth, including human life.

In Birth Place of the Winds, National Geographic explorer Jon Bowermaster, leads an expedition kayaking among five volcanic islands in Alaska.

Clean Water Common Ground is a penetrating look at Hawaii’s struggles to address water quality issues in “paradise.”

Following the film festival, David Merryman, The Catawba River Keeper, will host a panel discussion with water experts from along the Catawba basin.
